Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What types of addiction support programs are available for my loved one?
There is an abundance of programming available for people who struggle with substance use - from self help support groups such as AA or ACA, or community based counselling programs, and health authority programming.

Q. How do we know if our loved one is ready for addiction treatment?
This is hard to be specific about as the loved one often cannot tell if they are ready due to the 'denial' part of addiction. Sometimes a family is ready for their loved one to change and the loved one is not ready. We hope to help you with support with this decision.

Q. What is the process of getting my family member into a rehab or treatment program?
There are many different types of referral pathways to treatment centres. Often you will need a referral package completed by a medical provider, including some medical tests. Each treatment centre has a different way of approaching addiction, and we hope to make a successful match.

Q. How can we best support our loved one during their recovery journey?
Not having expectations for your loved one is key. Understanding that their recovery journey is intimate to them and may look differently from others. Be open and supportive...remember, it is their journey.

Q. What are the signs of a relapse, and how can we help prevent that?
If your loved one engages in any pre-treatment behaviour that has been identified as non-conducive to their recovery, that can be a red flag. There are many different signs, but mainly mood, irritability, and inconsistent behaviours are the biggest determinators.
